About This Game

The monsters went to war with the children's city and tore down every home and school, while their own side of the wall stayed green and untouched. A small boy flies his kite among the ruins to steal back a moment of happiness β€” and that kite is the one thing the monsters truly fear. A ruined stone wall splits the screen in two: you are on the right among the rubble, the monsters are on the left in untouched greenery. The boy stays on the ground the whole game: left/right (or A/D) walks him along the right side of the wall, while up/down (or W/S) raises and lowers the kite on his string. The kite floats over the left side and follows him with a soft, laggy delay. Press Space and a watermelon drops straight down from under the kite onto whatever monster is below. Three monster types roam the left field: the standard monster drifts horizontally for 100 points, the small speedy one darts across for 200 points, and the glowing carrier monster flies in a wavy sine path for 150 points plus 2 extra watermelons. Monsters panic and flee when the kite drifts close to them, so lining up a drop is trickier than it looks. The game runs for 10 levels and each one sets its own mission: hit so many monsters, or so many speedy ones, or so many carriers. Every level comes with its own melon allowance and its own clock, and any melons left over at the end turn into points. Run out of melons before the goal, or let the clock run out, and you lose that level. As the levels go on the monsters get faster, arrive more often and crowd the field; clear level 10 and the city is safe, and the game ends on a gold card. All sound effects are generated in the browser, touch devices get a d-pad and a big melon button, and your best score and a top-10 leaderboard are saved locally.
